Full-time, Salaried Position

We are currently seeking an experienced and safety-conscious **Concrete Superintendent** to join our team in **Edmonton, Alberta**. Reporting to the **General Superintendent**, **Concrete**, this position will manage concrete crews and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet customer specifications. The Concrete Superintendent plays a critical role in maintaining the high standards Fath Industries is known for in the industry.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Leadership & Team Development**:
- Organize and coordinate the daily activities of concrete crews, subcontractors, and equipment to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Provide leadership for 3-5 foremen and up to 40 crew members.
- Mentor, coach, and train foremen and field workers to achieve optimal performance.
- Work with foremen to plan tasks efficiently, coordinating with plant and logistics teams to optimize daily production safely and on time.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources department on employee-related matters, including recruitment, wage adjustments, training, incident investigations, performance management, and terminations.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of administrative paperwork, including timesheets, payroll logs, and job logs.
**Operational Management**:
- Review construction schedules and ensure that milestones and completion dates are met.
- Interpret project plans and specifications to ensure work is performed to meet customer and municipal standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Perform hands-on work when required, including concrete grading, placing, and finishing tasks, and operating equipment such as pumps, finishers, and GOMACO equipment.
- Act as a backup for the General Superintendent, managing daily operations and making decisions as needed.
**Collaboration & Communication**:
- Liaise with customers, engineers, and project managers to align project outcomes with expectations.
- Provide daily updates to the General Superintendent on project progress and challenges.
- Foster collaboration across internal departments and with external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
**Cost Management**:
- Monitor project budgets to control costs and keep operations within financial targets.
- Support procurement efforts by coordinating material deliveries and managing supplier relationships.
- Assist with job cost analysis and identify opportunities for improving efficiency.
**Safety**:
- Ensure crews conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections, promotingadherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the Safety department to ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and company policies.
- Lead by example in following all health and safety guidelines.
- Promote a culture of safety and enforce safe work practices among all team members.
**Qualifications & Skills**:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- 5+ years of experience leading concrete or large construction crews as a Senior Foreman or
**Superintendent**.
- Expertise with concrete operations, including placing and finishing concrete in municipal, commercial, and rural settings.
- Experience operating GOMACO equipment (preferred but not required).
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams and coordinating complex operations.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with construction management software.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to work long hours during the summer months, with occasional travel outside Edmonton.
