_**Carpenter Apprentice**_

**Primary responsibilities and requirements**:

- Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions
- Select materials.
- Interpret and work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Work with materials such as wood or steel.
- Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, & power actuated tools to repair and erect structures.
- Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
- Work on top of ladders or the top beams of buildings.
- Able to work at heights.
- Must know how to use levels, able to read a measuring tape and calculate measurements with fractions, framing squares.
- Interpret company policies and enforce safety regulations.

**Physical Demands**:

- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time during a regular work day; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other climbing devices; carry tools and equipment; work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling positions; be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasks.
- Must be able to perform assigned tasks under all types of environmental and weather conditions including severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather and high winds.
- Working in high, exposed levels as well as in close, cramped quarters from time-to-time.

A valid Class 5 drivers licence and reliable transportation is required. A valid CSTS 2020, WHMIS, fall protection are required. Elevated work platform and/or Zoom Boom training certificates are an asset.
