**Purpose of the Role**
The purpose of the Cleaner role is to ensure that Birch Housing properties are clean, sanitary, and presentable always.
**Responsibilities**
The following is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. The tasks and the time spent performing each task may vary depending on the budget allocation and client’s situation. Birch Housing maintains the right to modify job duties and responsibilities at its discretion.
- Dust, sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and detailed cleaning of lobbies, elevators, lounges, and laundry room.
- Conduct deep cleaning of tenant’s unit upon vacancy including bathrooms, kitchen, and appliances.
- Scheduled cleaning of windows, glass surfaces and mirrors.
- Ensure regular emptying of trash bins and proper disposal of garbage.
- Observe and inform any maintenance issues or repairs needed within the residential building.
- Adhere to health and safety standards, including using appropriate cleaning products and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Team members who may not possess all the requirements for a job at the time of hire are expected to attain the missing skills, knowledge and abilities required within a specified period of time as agreed upon, in writing, with the Executive Director. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

**Work Experience Requirements**
Work experience required: Minimum of 1 years’ experience in cleaning (residential and/or commercial).
Job-related experience required: Minimum of 1 years’ experience in building cleaning (residential and/or commercial).
**Technical Requirements**
Software: Basic knowledge in Word and Excel.
Equipment: Basic computers.
Other: N/A
**Other Requirements**
G class driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.

**Physical and Sensory Requirements**
This position requires some level of physical exertion. Reaching, climbing, pushing, and lifting up to 50+ lbs. Occasional intensity of sensory effort is required.
**Working Conditions**
Exposure to disagreeable elements often including chemicals and cleaning products. Conditions include working in confined spaces; dirt, grease, strong odours/fumes; occasional noise of moderate intensity, inclement weather conditions. Risks associated with operating equipment or climbing considerable heights, where more serious injury can occur, requiring short-term medical intervention (e.g. fractures). Regular travel on same day return trips to other Birch Housing locations.
