6.0 hours per day - school days only

**SHIFT**: Before School - Exact timing of the hours to be determined by the Administrator

**SALARY**: As per C.U.P.E Collective Agreement

**SUMMARY**:
Under the direction of the Vice-Principal of Early Learning and Child Care and the school administrator, the Seamless Day Early Childhood Educator (ECE) works in partnership with early years educators and school staff to facilitate a seamless day for kindergarten and primary students. The position is responsible for supporting the practices of the BC Early Learning Framework, including the pedagogy of listening, critical reflection, collaborative dialogue, and pedagogical narration to enhance learning in the early childhood learning environment. Knowledge of pedagogical practices for play-based learning and early childhood education is essential.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Establishes positive working relationships with school staff, families, and children.

Plans, coordinates, and leads a quality before/after school care program for students.

Supports the transition of information between children, families, and classroom colleagues (Second ECE and Kindergarten teacher)

Plans, coordinates and leads a quality licensed school-age group child care program for early primary students.

Collaborates with the Kindergarten teacher, second ECE and other school staff to create a seamless transition for children moving between the child care program and the school day.

With the classroom colleagues, plans and maintains a learning environment that promotes the health, security and well-being of children.

Assist in budget preparation and purchase and maintenance of supplies and materials.

Attends meetings as required.

Maintains statistics for child care reports.

Collects traces of practice to enhance pedagogical narration.

Supports District Early Learning and Child Care Initiatives and Projects.

Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Participates in job-related training and staff development.

Understands and acts in accordance with school and district policies, childcare ministry policies and procedures, district Health and Safety and WorkSafeBC regulations.

Maintains familiarity with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)/Globally Harmonized Systems (GHS)

Support onboarding of new families and ensure that enrollment packages are complete.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Completion of Grade 12

Current ECE Certification and registration with the BC Government’s ECE Registry.

One (1) year of recent experience working as an ECE in an early learning or child care setting.

Valid First Aid Certification.

Clear criminal record check and evidence of compliance with the province’s immunization and tuberculosis control programs as required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation.

Demonstrated knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and the First Peoples Principles of Learning.

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
Experience creating, organizing, planning, and implementing an early learning program.

Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team with colleagues, care givers and children.

Strong problem solving and organization skills, ability to work with mínimal supervision.

Proven ability to use developmentally appropriate restorative practices to build relationships with children in early learning programs and create an inclusive learning environment that honours children as strong, capable in their uniqueness and full of potential.

Strong knowledge of local community.

Ability to work in a team environment.

Energetic and creative in planning activities for youth.

Other qualifications, skills and abilities may be required to meet Ministry of Childcare Licensing requirements or terms of the program.
