Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the overall functions of the Finance department. Reporting to the CEO, this role supports the Company’s growth by demonstrating best practices in the areas of financial reporting, internal controls, and processes. As a key member of the management team, you will assist in the strategic development of the Company through industry leading financial practices. The position is in the Edmonton area, based on a 40-hour work week. We do offer a flexible schedule with a hybrid-remote work model.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial reporting activities.
- Assist in developing and delivery of forecasted financial budgets while strengthening our costing and margins.
- Coordinate the preparation and delivery of all customer invoices/statements and foster strong working relationship with our customers.
- Conduct financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability analysis, and cost analysis, to support strategic decision-making and continued improvement efforts.
- Support the Company ownership in building and maintaining relationships with financial institutions, including preparing and presenting various current and projected financial results.
- Continually evaluate current processes for the opportunity to improve and re-implement revised processes for financial and operational efficiency.
- Act as our internal HR department lead.

Accounting Functions
- Collaborate with the Finance Team to ensure that the balances on the company's balance sheet accounts (assets, liabilities, and equity) are accurate and match the supporting documentation.
- Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger (G/L) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Projecting and monitoring cash flow requirements.
- Overseeing external review and regulatory compliance per lending agreements.
- Process employee payroll, including calculations for taxes, deductions, and benefits.
- Manage CRA filing for GST and Payroll.
- Monitor, control, implement/maintain systems to manage the company’s inventory levels.

Supervisory Management:

- Manage Finance Department in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll clerks.
- Provide a high level of coaching, training, and mentoring to accounting staff in the achievement of their goals and projects throughout the year and during the performance management process.
- Be the Finance representative on internal working groups.
- Represent Finance in meetings with other departments to provide enhanced service and customer support.

Qualifications:

- CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a Controller role within a structure of a privately owned company.
- Certified in payroll administration an asset.

**Salary**: $100,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
