CORPORATE RISK OFFICER

Salary

Range - $71,203 - $88,999 per year (under review)

The Simcoe

County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position

of Corporate Risk Officer. Reporting

to the Controller, the Corporate Risk Officer is the board’s

implementation of controls. This position advocates and negotiates on behalf of

the board in dealing with insurance providers and insurance clauses in contracts.

The Corporate Risk Officer provides interpretation, advice and recommends

actions and strategies to senior officials, principals and management on matters

related to risk and legal actions. In

emergency situations related to student injury and property the Corporate Risk

Officer advises the immediate action to be taken to mitigate risk and decrease

potential loss.

Qualifications and Skills

Required:
Minimum of a three (3) year

community college diploma or university

degree in business or equivalent;

Canadian Risk Management (CRM)

designation or working towards the designation;

Five (5) years of experience in

insurance/risk management;

Working knowledge of current

legislation, e.g., Education Act, Insurance Act, Occupiers Liability Act, and

historical case law;

Ability to interpret contracts,

legal documents and insurance wording is required;

Excellent oral and written

communication skills;

Excellent organizational

and time management skills;

Strong customer service,

conflict resolution and relationship building skills as this position will work

with both internal and external stakeholders;

Computer literacy and the ability

to work with a variety of computer software programs, such as MS Word, Excel,

must possess a valid driver’s licence;

This is a full-time permanent position. The regular

work year for this position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation

range for this twelve (12) month position is $71,203 to $88,999 per year (under

review), depending on qualifications and experience. This position is based on

a 35-hour work week.
