Rideau Community Health Services (RCHS) is a non-profit, fully accredited organization that offers primary health care and social services throughout Lanark, Leeds & Grenville.

**Position: Community Dentist**

**Hours: 0.4 FTE (14 hours/week)**

**Term: Indeterminate**

**Start Date: February 6, 2023**

**Rate: $154.16 hourly + 4% vacation pay**

**Closing Date: January 18, 2023**

**Location**: RCHS provides dental services in Smiths Falls, Brockville, Lanark and
Westport. Current need is at our Brockville and Westport locations. There is flexibility around location if 2 dentists would like to share the days. Home site will be determined on hire and compensation for mileage is provided.

Proof of Covid Vaccination (2 doses) required.

**POSITION TITLE: COMMUNITY DENTIST/ ORAL SURGEON**

**DEPARTMENT: DENTAL PROGRAM**

**REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR, INTEGRATED CARE**

**SUMMARY**: Working with an RCHS interdisciplinary dental team, the Dentist will diagnose, treat and prevent oral disease for adults who are in financial need and/or part of the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program. The Dentist is responsible for creating client treatment plans to maintain or restore client’s oral health, as well as promoting the importance of oral health to clients. In addition, the Dentist ensures the creation and maintenance of accurate dental records for patients using electronic dental software.

**REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES**:

- Examine patients' teeth, gums and surrounding tissue to diagnose disease, injury and decay and plan appropriate treatment
- Obtain an appropriate medical / dental client history
- Creating treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of the client.
- Restore, extract and replace diseased and decayed teeth
- Interpreting x-rays and diagnostic tests
- Perform restorative dentistry, oral surgery, and other treatments within the scope of the RCHS clinic
- Provide client education related to oral health
- Refer to internal and external community programs, as well as to other specialized dental professionals.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Degree from a recognized dental program.
- Licensing by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
- CPR certification required
- Minimum of two years’ work experience in dentistry is preferred and the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of patient screening, charting, and medical history procedures and documentation
- Ability to work with computer databases and electronic mail, previous experience with ClearDent or ABLEDent an asset
- Awareness of, and ability to support, provincial and federal privacy regulations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
- Excellent organizational skills and above average attention to detail
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to being a “team player”

**OTHER**
- Ability to work flexible hours based on program needs
- Valid Driver’s license
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Canadian criminal record check and a vulnerable sector check that are satisfactory to RCHS

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 14 per week

**Salary**: $154.16 per hour
