Supervisor, Withdrawal Management Centre

**OVERVIEW**
Michael Garron Hospital operates two sites that offer withdrawal management services in East Toronto:
- Women’s Withdrawal Management Services (989 Danforth Ave.)
- Men’s Withdrawal Management Services (985 Danforth Ave.)
These facilities provide compassionate and culturally competent spaces for healing and respite for individuals aged 16 and older who are in an acute state of intoxication or withdrawal from alcohol or other substances.
Both our Women’s Withdrawal Management Services and Men’s Withdrawal Management Services are open 24/7. They are open to individuals who self-refer or who are referred by a clinician or member of the community.
The Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic is a hospital-based program that offers support toindividuals requiring help with substance use disorders. The clinic provides care for addiction issues, including assessments, counselling and prescription for medications that may help with lessening cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Many hospital inpatients also suffer from substance use disorders and the inpatient addiction medicine consult team provides addiction-specific assessments and treatments for this psychiatrically and medically complex population.
As a member of the Toronto East HealthPartners network, these MGH services are essential to the continuum of care for our community members living with substance use and mental health concerns.
This position will be required to work across multiple sites and may include some evening/weekend and on-call work.
**EDUCATION**
- Diploma or University degree in a health care related field, Nursing strongly preferred.
- Current registration with respective College, i.e. College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Demonstrated knowledge of all relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and PHIPA.
- Demonstrated knowledge/training in program management, team leadership and clinical supervision.
- Advanced training/diploma in Addictions and Mental Health from an accredited College an asset.
- Advanced training/knowledge in arange of therapeutic modalities and approaches to substance use and mental health, crisis prevention/intervention, harm reduction principles, strength-based, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practice an asset.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum five (5) years experience working with adults living with mental health and substances use challenges in a community or hospital based setting.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in a clinical leadership/management role.
- Experience working in Withdrawal Management Services is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated experience in previous program development, administrative and supervisory experience.
- Experience working with adults living with substance use/addictions and concurrent disorders.
- Proven expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches to substance use that are client-centred and strength-based, from harm reduction to abstinence based models.
- Experience preventing and responding to crises.
- Demonstrated competency and experience working with diverse communities using a health equity lens.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively and operate collaboratively with community and hospital-based stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge and experience working with adults with histories of trauma, abuse, self-harm and/or suicidal behaviour.
- Required Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation related to substance use/addictions.
- Strong ability to work/lead in an interprofessional team environment.
- Willing and capable of making time-sensitive decisions to ensure the safe operations of all program sites.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including conflict management and de-escalation techniques.
- Good work and attendance record required.
