**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
We are seeking a Dog Care Specialist to service a Waste Service client we have in Keswick, Ontario. In addition to this client, clients from time to time will be provided to you. We also provide a marketing kit for you to generate your own clients close to your home. We offer 24/7, 365 days a year service to our clients so there is the possibility for irregular hours and weekend work with this role. This role has three types of service requests - dog walking, dog sitting and dog poop yard cleanup (Waste Service).
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
General
- Maintain open and effective communication with clients, addressing their concerns and requests professionally.
- Promote Urban Pooch’s Pet Care as a Brand Ambassador.
Walking Service
- Safely walk dogs of various breeds and sizes in different weather conditions.
- Maintain a consistent walking schedule and ensure all dogs receive their allotted exercise time.
- Provide fresh water, treats, and any necessary medication to dogs as instructed by their owners.
- Monitor each dog’s behavior and health during walks, reporting any concerns to the owner.
- Ensure dogs are leashed securely and follow all leash laws and safety guidelines.
- Clean up after dogs, including disposing of waste in a responsible manner.
- Keep accurate records of each walk, including the duration, distance, and any notable observations.
Sitting Service
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the dogs under your care at all times. This includes feeding, providing water, and administering any necessary medications.
- Keep an eye out for any signs of illness, injury, or unusual behaviour in the dogs. Report any concerns to the owner and, if necessary, seek veterinary care.
- Provide regular updates to the dog's owner on their pet's well-being, including any notable events or changes in behaviour.
- Be prepared to handle emergencies such as injuries or sudden illness.
- Adhere to any special instructions provided by the dog's owner regarding diet, medication, or other specific needs.
- Develop a positive relationship with the dogs under your care, building trust and rapport to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for them.
- Ensure the security of the premises and the safety of the dogs in your care, including proper supervision during outdoor activities and secure confinement when necessary.
Waste Service
- Conduct a thorough inspection of the designated area to ensure all dog waste is properly collected and disposed of.
- Pay attention to detail to ensure thorough and effective cleanup, leaving the area free of any remaining waste or debris.
- Keep the cleanup tools and equipment clean and sanitized after each use.
- Report any issues or concerns regarding the condition of the area, such as damaged property, to the owners.
- Take necessary safety precautions while performing cleanup duties, such as wearing protective gloves and using appropriate tools.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Genuine love and compassion for dogs.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Physical fitness and the ability to handle dogs of various sizes and energy levels.
- Good understanding of canine behavior and basic obedience.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Access to a smartphone for scheduling and communication purposes.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Prior experience as a dog handler or in a related field.
- Comfortable cleaning dog’s poop up in client’s yards.
- Experience meeting and surpassing sales targets is a plus.
- Experience volunteering is also a plus.
- A passion for a social cause.
- Criminal background check.
