**Summary**:
Miller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on highway maintenance contracts for Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) across the province of Ontario. As a member of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), the ERU Operator will attend to incidents on highways and ensure safety for the travelling public. You will operate either a Crash Truck or Sign Truck based on shift requirements.

**As an Emergency Response Unit Operator, You Will**:

- Work in tandem with a partner as a Crash Truck operator.
- Work in a safe manner to successfully address any deficiencies or maintenance tasks
- Respond to calls dispatched from MTO with urgency, complete collision incident reports and liaise with the supervisor and MTO as needed
- Provide traffic control at the accident scene. Set up and take down traffic warning signs
- Respond to emergency situations such as spills, accidents, inclement weather and assist in implementing an emergency plan as needed
- Communicate with authorities at emergency scenes - Police, Firefighters, etc. and liaise with MTO to assess the need for additional resources
- Conduct daily circle checks on vehicles. Clean and maintain the vehicle, report defects and perform minor repairs
- Complete and submit all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner - hours of service, fuel records, incident reports, time sheets, logs etc.
- Other duties as found on shift or as assigned

**What You'll Bring**:

- Class D commercial license with air brake endorsement (Z)
- Highway maintenance experience is considered an asset
- Emergency response experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM) Book 7 is considered an asset

- Customer service oriented to effectively communicate with various stake holders (MTO, general public) and attend to their concerns with utmost sense of urgency
- Excellent team player to work productively in a highly functional team
- Flexibility and organizational skills to multitask and manage time in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities
- Proactive problem-solving skills and decision-making skills
- Basic computer skills to navigate weather, equipment data, Miller and MTO work sites
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) to accurately document daily activities, collision incident reports, etc
- Willingness to work assigned day, night, and weekend shifts
- Ability to lift heavy weights (up to 50 pounds)
- Comfortable with working and driving in inclement weather conditions
