**1 ‑ Part Time (.5) ‑ Cast Room Attendant**

**Orthopaedic Fracture Clinic**

This position will involve working the day shift. The shift is not to be interpreted as a guarantee.

Reporting to the Manager ‑ Ambulatory Care Services, you will be responsible for providing immediate care under the

direction of a Physician. The Orthopaedic Technologist collaborates with other members of the health care team,

primarily in the Orthopaedic (fracture clinic) Department, and occasionally in other areas such as the inpatient units,

Operating Room and Emergency Departments. The Orthopaedic Technologist manages the workload and fulfills the

responsibilities of the position with a high degree of autonomy, within established guidelines and procedures. Clinical

direction and support are provided by the Orthopaedic Technologist and the attending physicians or house staff. The

Orthopaedic Technologist works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and

adheres to all Health and Safety policies, procedures and provisions established by management. As part of the

health care team, you will practice with the principles of Patient and Family Centred Care as supported by the

Mission, Vision and Values Statement of TBRHSC and the scope of practice of the Orthopaedic Technologist as

defined by the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (C.S.O.T)

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

- Successful completion of an Orthopaedic Technician program preferred
- Current registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists
- A minimum of 3‑5 years of recent experience, preferably in a fracture clinic acute setting

Basic knowledge of:

- Anatomy and physiology related to orthopaedics
- Orthopaedic diseases and injuries, and related principles of patient care
- Splinting and casting experience
- Aseptic techniques and wound care (basic)
- Departmental and hospital policy and procedures

In addition, applicants must have skill and experience in the following elements of Orthopaedic Technologist practice:

- Recent experience, preferably in a fracture clinic acute setting
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Strong organizational, critical appraisal and analytical skills
- High level of initiative and self direction
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
- Demonstrates coaching and mentoring skills

Salary Range: $24.407 to 24.725
