Overnight Respite Worker

I am an independent, active 32-year-old female with a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and have a Bachelor of Social Work. I am looking for an enthusiastic and responsible female overnight worker (5-6 overnights/month and this is a SLEEPING shift) who can commit for a minimum of 6 months. The **applicant must already reside in British Columbia and I am not able to hire anyone who is currently living outside of Canada**. I am physically dependent on someone else for personal care, such as feeding, dressing, toileting, and hygiene.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Personal Care (feeding, dressing, showering, and bladder/bowel care)
- Transfers via mechanical lift or manual lift (I weigh approximately 70-75 pounds)
- Administering medication and assistance with helping me use my breathing machine (no health care experience is required, and I will provide you with the necessary training)
- Waking up 1-2 times throughout the night to reposition me (this is a sleeping shift)
**Qualifications of a successful applicant**:
- Flexible, observant, detail oriented, punctual, and happy to learn
- Quiet/light sleeper
- Nursing/medical experience is not a requirement (I am willing to train), but experience in the health care field or working with persons with disabilities is an asset
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and be willing to show proof of vaccination
**Hours of Work and Pay**:
- You will be scheduled for one weekly shift (but there may be opportunities to work more nights/week if you would like to work more) and you may be asked to cover shifts when other team members are unable to work unexpectedly
- Overnight shifts are 12-15 hours long (with weekend shifts being closer to 15 hours long because I like to sleep in)
- You will be paid $20-$22/hour plus an additional 4% for Vacation Pay (you also get paid to sleep for a significant amount of time overnight)
- Lastly, I am a licensed CRA employer and Taxes/CPP/EI will be deducted from Payroll
