**Key Responsibilities**

**The Student Estimator** will have the opportunity to support the Major Projects team in their process of bidding new work and working with the estimating team. This is a 4-month opportunity that will work in our downtown Vancouver head office starting
**September 2023**. The student intern will have the following duties in this role:

- Being mentored by Senior and Estimating Directors in bidding projects including construction approach
- Pursuing various projects including a combination of bid-build, design-build and PPP projects ranging from _bridges_, _tunnels_, highways to water & wastewater treatment
- Working with estimate teams on bid preparations including
- Quantity takeoff and updating estimate software with quantities
- Subcontractor/Vendor solicitation
- Subcontractor/Vendor Quote comparisons
- Inserting quotes into estimate software
- Assisting with means and methods for project construction
- Assisting in design build process and working with design teams
- Preparing portions of estimates utilizing Hard Dollar Estimating software
- Participate in tender closing
- Working with partners estimating teams

**Required Knowledge and Skills**
- Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract is an asset
- Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
- Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills and accuracy.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
