**Brief Job Description**

The position of Production Superintendent will oversee all daily operations of the primary processing pork slaughter plant ensuring compliance with guidelines, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will develop and adhere to defined processes that will maximize stewardship, team development, safety, quality, yields and productivity. This role will be a member of the operations leadership team and must adhere to the values of the organization when making decisions and solving problems. As a senior leader in the organization, the role must encourage employee follow-ship and be an example of the culture that defines Thunder Creek Pork. Our customers are at the core of all we do, and this incumbent must exhibit a propensity to meet customer expectations without compromising safety, quality, compliance requirements, and unnecessary waste.

**Responsibilities**

Daily Duties
- Walks the production floor to review quality, waste, employee wellbeing and opportunities for improvement.
- Conducts daily huddles with production supervisors to review orders, manning and any changes.
- Attends daily update meetings.
- Reviews GMP and HACCP compliance through reports and observations.Reviews safety concerns and addresses them through COGZ.
- Updates PM on key issues requiring support.
- Reviews all add on orders through production planning.
- Reviews daily call ins and makes necessary changes to manning with the supervisors.
- Guides team towards achieving zero lost time and medical aid incidents.

**Weekly Duties**
- Attends weekly production planning meetings with input and observations.
- Conducts 1 on 1’s with direct reports.
- Reviews manning, vacancies, discipline and union issues with HR.
- Executes a minimum of 2 stop observations per week.
- Adheres to the GMP and reviews with QA, includes pre-op findings.
- Interviews prospective new employees.
- Reviews KPI’s from critical numbers.
- Sets up new products as directed by sales.
- Reviews dry goods inventory with inventory clerk and recommends order points.
- Reviews all ADP timecards for completeness and accuracy.
- Approves ADP timecards biweekly for further payments.
- Aids in investigating customer complaints formalizing solutions.
- Reviews all vacations/LOAs and planned absences to ensure a balanced manning schedule.

**Monthly Duties**
- Contributes/organizes town hall meetings for the entire plant.
- Conducts the joint monthly review with the union.
- Attends monthly OPS meetings and acts as representative in absence of the Plant Manager.
- Reviews KPI’s with the Plant Manager and communicates opportunities to supervisors.
- Attends monthly QA meetings.
- Validates/Approves hourly vacation schedules.
- Reports to the Plant Manager on areas of concern with staff, process, planning or supply.
- Reviews good neighbour schedules and activities.
- Prepares and participates in any 3rd party audit or customer visits.

**Annual Duties**
- Participates in capital planning for the following year.
- Conducts performance management for review for staff.
- Helps conduct IDPs for staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Critical KPIs**
- Customer Service Level.
- Fill Rate.
- Cost/Kg (Service Fee).
- Plant Utilization.
- Customer complaints, claims, cost, and satisfaction.
- CFIA/HACCP/BRC Audits/CARs.
- Turnover/Absenteeism.
- Overtime.
- Waste Reduction/Yield Improvement.
- TRIR/Severity/Frequency/WCB work orders.
- Union Relation.

**Position Requirements & Skills**
- Production Management experience of no less than 4 years.
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
- Familiarity with industry standards, equipment, and technical expertise.
- Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, yield management, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes.
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
- Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
- Effective Communication Skills.
- Collaborative Leadership and Interpersonal Skills.
- Critical-Thinking Skills.
