- Posting Close Date: December 4, 2023The Opportunity- Our Badlands Pipeline Operations team is looking to add an experienced Pipeline Technician to our growing team in Southern Alberta of our Canada Gas Operations.-
As a Pipeline Technician, this position acts as the primary isolation coordinator as well as operates, maintains, tests, and inspects our natural gas pipeline, valves & operators and associated pipeline building assemblies in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.- The regular work schedule will be:_
- Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is an 8-hour day_
- Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)_

What you’ll do- Perform inspections, troubleshooting and repair on equipment such as actuators, valves, stem seals, and other related components
- Plan and lead pipeline isolation, blowdowns and other gas handling activities including installation and operation of air movers/expellers
- Conduct pipeline purging, loading and bleed ins to pressurize pipelines, and complete return to service activities
- Provide support as necessary to the operation of transfer compressor for pipeline pull downs
- Assist in gas leak surveys as reported by aerial patrols if requested by the area
- Perform and assist with various tasks associated with in-line inspection programs
- Complete preventative and corrective maintenance PMs/CMs as required and close out work orders. Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new notifications, etc. in SAP
- Operate and maintain natural gas pipelines and associated equipment
- Read and interpret alignment sheets
- Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low complexity projects to include the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control
- Provide coaching, mentoring and training to other personnel
- Complete basic “as built” prints and update related documentation with respect pipeline related schematics (red line drawings) Identify encroachment issues, report and manage unauthorized activities
- Complete LDAR repairs, planned and corrective maintenance as required
- Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TransCanada's safety, health, environment and risk standards
- Operate various types of equipment
- ATV’s, Forklifts, tractors, air compressors, generators, light towers.
- Perform tasks from other disciplines
- Able to do and understand that the position requires a lot of on the road work.

Minimum Qualifications-
- Journeyman certification in a trade or two years of post-secondary training-
- 2 years related work experience
- Excellent work safety record and a safe work attitudePreferred Qualifications-
- 5 years relevant work experience related to Pipelines
- Experience with valve operation, inspection, maintenance and repair
- Experience operating and maintaining high pressure natural gas pipelines and/or facilities
- Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or SAP experience Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required (estimated up 50% of work schedule)
- Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
