RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work cooperatively with other initiatives in the organization, using current CMHA health equity framework
- Identify and assist in the implementation of mechanisms to prioritize anti-oppressive, recovery-oriented practice across the agency
- Develop and support strategies to promote an ongoing learning culture for integrating equity and recovery principles in practice (workshop coordination, lunch & learns, support, Community of Practice, provide support/ consultation to individual teams).
- Integrate anti-racism and anti-oppressive frameworks into internally-led trainings for staff.
- Implement special events that promote inclusion and positive spaces for staff, service users and family members
- Support agency initiative to collect and analyze robust data with regards to service user demographics, and help ground our current health equity work in evidence and data
- Lead the implementation of HEIA assessments for new programs at CMHA, and other agencies as requested
- Represent and lead internal and external committees and workgroups
- Coordinate and support internal projects such as the Interviewers with Lived Experience (IWLE) initiative (IWLE initiative trains service users to participate in hiring panels at all level of the agency), and TAG Newsletter (Newsletter created by service users for service users)
- Participate in other activities as required by CMHA

SKILLS YOU BRING
- Experience and understanding of recovery-based approaches
- Understanding of health equity, the social determinants of health, as well as how different oppressions interconnect and intersect
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in social sciences or related field
- Ability to demonstrate an LGBTQ Positive, anti-racism/ anti-oppression approach, and to work effectively with diverse and equity-seeking communities
- Experience facilitating and evaluating workshops and committees Experience in public speaking and delivery of education material
- Demonstrated ability as a respected representative of CMHA
- Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders including service users and front-line staff
- Knowledge of current public policy issues
- Ability to communicate effectively and creatively with diverse stakeholders and communities
- Ability to develop and maintain equitable partnerships with community organizations
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work well independently, as well as in teams
- Experience in community outreach and engagement is an asset
- Experience in training and curriculum development is an asset
- Lived experience with mental health issues or the mental health systems would be a definite asset.
