Tutor - After School

(Casual Employment)

**Program**: Math - Grade 7 & 8

**Time**: 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday (Flexible)

**Rate of pay**: $25.00 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay

**Nature of position**: Casual

The OCDSB Tutor will support students to develop skills and close learning gaps in either Math or Literacy (program specified above).

**After School Tutors**:
Will work with small groups of students (average of 5)

Will provide tutoring for 1 hour after school (Monday-Thursday) immediately after the end of the school day (Where additional supervision is required for student transitions in some elementary schools, hours may be 1.5)

Will provide brief reports on student attendance and progress

Will communicate with appropriate school staff as necessary

All tutors will attend a mandatory paid virtual orientation and training sessions (date to be determined).

All tutors must obtain a Police Check for the vulnerable sector, valid within 6 months.

**Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills**:
Enthusiasm and skill in providing a variety of instructional approaches addressing individual students’ needs, and ensuring accessible and engaging learning opportunities

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

**In addition, the following will be considered an asset**:
Previous experience tutoring in math and/or literacy

Previous work experience with children in a school or other setting

Fluency in additional languages other than English

Experience using a range of digital tools, including Google Suite (Google Meet, Google Slides, etc.) and other digital tools to engage students

**DATES**: The OCDSB Tutor program is currently scheduled to continue until March 31, 2023.

Please note all programs are contingent upon student enrollment. Therefore, staffing, hours assigned, sites and proposed dates may change or be canceled on short notice based on student enrollment and operational requirements.
