The Opportunity

The South Bow Safety and Emergency Management group is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Professional to join and grow with the South Bow Team as our Team Lead Health & Safety Programs, based in Calgary, AB.

Reporting to the Safety Programs and Culture Manager, this position will provide technical expertise to enable our business to manage risk and protect the wellbeing of our people, with a focus on the development, delivery, enhancement, and governance of our enterprise Health & Safety program. The successful individual will have comprehensive knowledge of occupational health and safety best practices and a thorough understanding of operational management systems. What You'll Do

Provide leadership and strategic direction to an experienced team of Health & Safety Professionals in service of corporate and business objectives
Stewardship of our Health & Safety enterprise programs, standards, and processes
Influence and participate in the development of occupational health and safety standards, processes, procedures, and work aids
Establish and maintain governance to monitor the health and safety performance and implementation of South Bow safety management system
Keep abreast of emerging regulatory changes, industry trends and issues for the purpose of developing recommendations in response to changes to mitigate risk and informing findings to key stakeholders
Anticipate the needs of customers and providing a high level of customer service by ensuring effective processes are in place and providing health and safety support across the organization, to help facilitate business decisions
Foster a positive safety culture by building human and organizational performance to strengthen our cultural defenses and develop error-tolerant systems to better protect our people
Consult with multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure South Bow's health and safety risks and needs are being met
Manage and lead enterprise-wide health and safety program initiatives
Support the development and facilitation of health and safety training
Provide technical expertise and support to incident investigations, emergency response, audits, and assurance activities as required

Minimum Qualifications

Post-secondary degree or diploma related to Health and Safety
10 years of experience in health and safety program governance or related experience
Proven technical proficiency in the areas of occupational health, personal and process safety programs, industrial hygiene, operational management systems, corporate governance, and contractor management
Strong knowledge of legislative requirements governing health and safety at the federal, provincial, and state levels (i.e., OSHA, COHSR and other applicable Standards)

Preferred Qualifications

Certification or accreditation with a professional health or safety board (i.e., CRSP, CSP, CIH or ROH)
Experience writing, developing, and implementing work instructions, processes, and procedures
High level of analytical ability and strategic thinking required to gather and evaluate complex information obtained from a variety of sources and to formulate recommendations
Experience with pipeline and/or facility construction and/or within the Oil & Gas sector
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Excellent planning and organizational skills and must be able to manage rapidly shifting priorities as well as multiple projects concurrently

Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
