Manitoba Natural Resources and Northern Development, Fisheries Branch, is seeking qualified individuals to join the fisheries team. Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be willing and able to work extended hours as required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Must be willing and able to work in rural field locations, on lakes and on rivers as required, which may include inclement weather.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including the ability to lift and maneuver a minimum of 30 kg.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Licence

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Minimum one year post-secondary studies in resource management or biological sciences; emphasis in fisheries or wildlife management preferred.
- Ability to identify fish species with a working knowledge of fish community and fish habitat assessment methodologies
- Experience using Microsoft Excel including entering and manipulating biological data
- Strong organizational and time management skills including ability to record, compile, and manage large data sets.
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Experience in the safe operation of 4x4 trucks while towing trailers

Desired:

- Experience operating boats including knowledge of safe boating practices

**Duties**:
The Central Region's Assistant Fisheries Technician's primary role will be to assist regional staff throughout the province in conducting annual index gillnetting programs in Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba and to assist other regions with other field programs as well.
