**Assistant Director of Care - ADOC**
**Permanent Full-time**
**Reports to the Director of Care**
The **Assistant Director of Care ** works with the Director of Care in the management of all aspects of nursing care within the facility to ensure quality resident care through effective, efficient delivery of established standards within legislative and budgetary requirements.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provides supervision, clinical support and leadership to all staff in the nursing department.
- Ensures annual plan for Nursing Services is consistent with the annual facility plan and current health and well being needs of the residents.
- Assumes responsibility for the Nursing Department in the absence of the Director of Care; participates in the chain of communication within The Wexford responding to emergencies should the Senior Management Team not be available.
- Support staff in use of electronic documentation, including Point Click Care, e-MAR, RAI-MDS POC, and other types of documentation as they arise.
- Responsible for all staffing and work schedule in the absence of the Director of Care and Resident Care and Services Administrative Assistant.
- Participates with staff recruitment and retention as per departmental needs.
- Collects and compiles quality indicator data to be shared among staff and the Alliance Group.
- Monitors care, practice and delivery of resident driven care and service. Acts on findings and reports them to the Director of Care.
- Acts as the contact person for all family and community concerns regarding placement in the facility.
- The successful applicant must possess a demonstrated ability in core competencies including excellent coaching and mentoring skills, conflict resolution, quality management and excellent customer service skills.
**Qualifications**:
- Registered Nurse, BScN, with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Gerontology certificate program or equivalent an asset
- Experience in Long-Term Care setting an asset
- Experience or IPAC certificate is an asset.
- Experience in Skin and Wound Care
- Computer proficiency, computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Point Click Care Software and e-MAR.
- Infection Prevention and Control experience an asset.
- Possession of strong leadership, communication and diplomatic skills.
- Possession of strong written and oral communication skills.
- Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
- Experience within a unionized environment an asset.
- Maintains an awareness of current Long-term Care issues and service needs of clients in the facility.
- Able to work weekends and flexible hours.
- Valid vulnerable sector screening
