**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The QC Tech is responsible for contributing to overall Quality Control success by ensuring constant quality checks in the facility.

**SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Must have prior general experience working successfully in a team environment
- Previous experience working on a production line considered an asset
- Prior experience using mobile equipment considered an asset
- Food industry experience considered an asset
- Ability to read, write, and speak English and basic math skills
- Prior general experience working successfully in a team environment required
- Previous experience working as a production worker, efficiently outputting a quality product preferred
- Ability to communicate and work well with others as part of a team, demonstrating politeness, respect, and courtesy in communication and daily interactions
- Ability to provide clear, concise general instructions for team effectiveness and productivity
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to adapt to changes and open to learning new ways to get things done more efficiently and effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, thinking and reacting quickly, and making fast yet accurate decisions
- Basic knowledge of computer and able to learn in-house systems
- Ability to lift 50 lbs

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Effectively solve problems analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending the right course of action
- Monitor in process production and finished product quality via effective sampling and analytical techniques
- Act as a reporting body to the Production and Quality Department
- Ensure employees are following established HACCP (Food Safety), biosecurity, and health and safety procedures
- Ensure all food safety issues are communicated with plant SQF/HACCP Coordinator
- Check all CCP (critical control point) values during the day as per determined frequency
- Verify that production is ready to commence at the beginning of the shift, go over all areas along the line and ensure employees are on shift, have everything they need, and are prepared and ready to start
- Oversee shift cleanup and maintain area organization
- Inspection personnel inspect the fruit for defects (e.g. green, red, damaged, moldy, stems leaves and other foreign matters) and remove them.
- Inform line QC person if there is need to change the line speed due to presence of excessive defects
- Take care of fruit being dumped on the production line
- Visually observe the quality of fruit on inspection line and increase/ decrease the speed of belt to make the inspection personnel able to remove the defects
- Monitor the metal detector performance as per procedure before production starts, then every 2 hours and at the end of shift
- Check the magnet for any contaminants before shift, the after every break and at the end of shift and record as per the procedure
- Prepare hand dip solution (Sanitrol 50ppm) before shift starts and monitor solution concentration after each break
- Prepare hand dip solution (Chlorine 15ppm) for employees when leaving inspection line
- Check the chlorine concentration of fruit wash water before shift starts, then every 2 hours and at the end of shift and record. Adjust the concentration if out of range and inform to QA Supervisor for corrective action if required
- Check the containers of finished product randomly for weight and inform to production supervisor if any error
- Finished Product sampling and testing as per the procedure and frequency
- Ensure broken supplies are taken out of use
- Welcome new team members. Create a positive environment to enhance learning and development
- Provide and document production, safety, quality, and HACCP training. Ensure documentation is signed
- Ensure all quality and safety documentation is completed daily
- Ensure the wash team is following established HACCP, biosecurity, and health and safety procedures
- Comply with all Company, Health and Safety and HACCP policies and procedures
- Keep work area neat and tidy always. Follow proper clean up procedures
- Inspect work area (pre & post) and report to the supervisor any quality/HACCP/GMP issues
- Ensure all food safety issues are communicated with plant SQF/HACCP Coordinator and Operations Manager
- Report any equipment/building maintenance concerns
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Assist in other areas of production as needed

**Salary**: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
