**The Role: Foster Care Support Worker and Permanency Support (Full Time)**
- This dual role supports foster families to maximize their abilities to care for foster children. The Foster Care Support Worker supports families through providing robust case management to ensure their needs are met so that in turn they can provide a trauma informed, safe home for foster children. This position also supports the Permanency program, a partnership through Children Services, by providing educational in-services to prospective Permanency / Adoptive parents who are awaiting a child placement.

**This position requires a flexible schedule with evening and weekend work as required.**

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

**Permanency Promotion**
- Host and co-facilitate with Children Services, monthly orientation and training events to prospective adoptive parents, as well as to current adoptive caregivers (Virtual and in-person)
- Coordinate and host training events (min. 3 weekday evenings per month) with the goal of providing education, tools, and resources to prepare and support caregivers in their adoption and private guardianship journey
- Promote adoption and permanency planning for children and youth in collaboration with the Children’s Services Adoptions and Permanency Team
- Attend regular program-related meetings, including meetings with the Children’s Services Adoptions and Permanency Team
- Create, coordinate, and facilitate adoption events and activities with the purpose of child and family matching, as well as to provide opportunities for celebration and recognition of adoptive families and children.
- Complete administrative duties including and not limited to trainings and event invitations, RSVP list management, participant tracking, physical training certificate distribution and other administrative duties as assigned.

**Foster Care**
- Provide support, guidance, leadership, and supervision to foster parents tailored to meet the needs of each individual child and youth placed in their care
- Liaison and collaboration with Alberta Children’s Services to support each individual child and youth in being able to access the supports and resources needed to thrive
- Supporting foster parents in developing the skills to connect their foster children and youth to their natural supports and to become an active support and participant in reunification with natural family
- Engaging with foster children and foster families from a trauma-informed lens, a loss and grief perspective, and a culturally sensitive approach.
- Engaging and modelling respectful and appropriate relationship
