**Summary**

The Civil Intermediate Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of civil design for assigned projects and will provide support in the areas of planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders and upward reporting to project managers and/or managers are critical tasks that must be performed throughout each project's lifecycle.

**Job Duties**
- Work with a team of engineers and other professionals on a wide range of projects including performance investigations, repairs/modifications, installation of new equipment and redevelopments.
- Projects vary in scale from small single discipline projects to very large, multidiscipline projects with project costs.
- Perform work primarily in the civil discipline.
- Carry out detailed searches of background information, including As-Built drawings previous reports, construction information, previous project information. Prepare detailed summaries of background information. Plan and implement field investigations/ site visits as required for obtaining information on site conditions.
- Prepare working design bases for design tasks to document the design objectives, design criteria, technical references used, load cases and combinations, analysis methodology, design assumptions, and any other relevant design information. Carry out analysis and design of structural components. Analysis may consist of simplified analysis by hand or Excel, but may also include the use of structural analysis software such as RISA and RISA foundation to carry out more detailed analyses for more complex structures /loading conditions. Prepare detailed design sketches for drafting.
- Prepare specifications and technical reports, memoranda and other project documentation. Complete quantity take-offs. Develop and maintain effective and professional relationships with internal and external colleagues in order to develop sources of technical information and support.
- Approval and stamping of engineering drawings. Structural design & calculations (incl. 3D modeling)
- Field sketching (structural layouts, details, connections, etc.).
- Conduct meetings with clients.

**Requirements - Job Specific**
- Although preferred, do not need to have P.Eng.
- Although preferred, do not need to have nuclear experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Capability of project leadership and project management from scope definition to construction execution.
- 5-15 years experience in civil / structural engineering. Preferably in Nuclear industry.
- Registration as a P.Eng with EGBC is required; additional registration with APEGA or PEO would be considered an asset to support teams and operations in Alberta and Ontario
- Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes
- Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License to facilitate independent travel to project sites and other office locations
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written with experience writing technical proposals
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders
