**Overview of the Opportunity**

Under the guidance and direction of the Manager, Finance & Accounting (Deputy Treasurer) you will be one of the first points of contact for our ratepayers. Your position will assist in the administration of municipal accounting activities to ensure accounting procedures are within generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and in accordance with the statutory requirements set under the applicable legislation and regulations. Specifically, this position will assist with payroll, employee benefits administration, accounts payable and receivable systems, property tax collection services, and general municipal customer service.

**What You’ll Do**
- Maintain general ledger including the balancing and posting of journal entries, intercompany/interfund transactions, daily uploads, accounts payable and receivables function, assist with bi-weekly payroll and the reconciliation of various accounts.
- Prepare tax certificates and tax receipts, liaise with mortgage companies regarding tax payments, assist with processing tax payments and updating ratepayers’ information in municipal tax accounts.
- Assist with the administration of the comprehensive insurance program, including maintaining and updating the fleet and property inventory for asset management purposes.
- Process vendor electronic fund transfers (EFTs) for direct payment.
- Manage various financial spreadsheets for employee and council expenses, mileage and taxation.
- Point of contact for departmental inquires re: office supplies, invoices, technical advice and other queries.
- Assist with phone and in-person counter inquiries as required.

**Education**
- 3-year post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting
- Completion of Municipal Tax Administration Program (MTAP) an asset

**Experience and Skill**
- 3 yearsin a finance and administrative capacity, public sector exposure an asset
- Working knowledge of financial software ie. Asyst, Microsoft Dynamics, an asset
- Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office, Excel and ability to create fillable PDF’s.
- Excellent organization, time management and customer service abilities
- Keen attention to detail yet flexible to pivot between multiple interruptions and demands
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, conflict resolution and analytical skills.
- Valid class “G” drivers license required.
