Summary

W.J. Mouat Secondary has a diverse student population of 1500 with a rich multi-cultural student demographic.

Leaning into personalized, inquiry-based instruction, the successful individual will be able to unpack and assess students based on the curricular competencies using the provincial performance standard. The teacher will be responsible for teaching in an inquiry-based model and provide support to a diverse and complex student community. The teacher must be able to create inquiry/project-based learning experiences that explore big ideas and concepts allowing students to thrive within an environment of complex knowledge construction as opposed to simple recall or retell of information. W.J. Mouat is looking for a forward thinking, collaborative educator who thrives in a team environment and is willing to continue to operate on the leading edge of education and adjust practice accordingly.

This position will be working within a dynamic, and innovative Fine Arts department with a team of 3 teachers teaching Art 9-12, Photography, Ceramics and Sculpture, Graphics Arts and more.

Education & Experience

Major/minor in Fine Arts with an emphasis on visual art

Experience teaching visual art and photography at the secondary level

Eligible for B.C. Certification

Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum report

**Caring & Inclusiveness**: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students

**Flexibility & Adaptability**: Demonstrate flexibility in our ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
