Qualifications:

- Valid Early Childhood Education Certificate and license to practice (as per Child Care Regulation)
- Valid safety-oriented first aid certificate
- Valid FoodSafe Certificate
- Criminal record check clearance letter
- 2 reference contacts or letters related to the field.
- Previous experience working with young children (preferred)

Job Summary:
As an Early Childhood Educator at Kiddy Junction Academy, you will play a crucial role in fostering the development and well-being of children through engaging and developmentally appropriate activities. You will be part of a supportive team that values each child's unique needs and encourages a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Activity Planning and Implementation:

- Develop and assess activities that promote each child’s well-being.
- Utilize the BC Early Learning Framework, Reggio Emilia approach, and Montessori method.
- Create a daily schedule that includes child-directed activities, care routines, and transition times.
- Prepare and adapt the environment to facilitate activities.

2. Individualized Curriculum:

- Observe and respond to children's interactions and needs.
- Collaborate with staff and families to provide additional support and referrals when needed.
- Ensure activities are inclusive and accessible to all children.

3. Behaviour Guidance:

- Set and maintain behavior expectations aligned with the center’s philosophy.
- Implement positive guidance techniques and address challenging behaviors appropriately.
- Work with the team to support inclusive practices.

4. Health and Safety:

- Adhere to licensing requirements and center procedures for health and safety.
- Maintain health records, administer first aid, and report incidents as required.
- Ensure a safe environment by monitoring for hazards and attending to children’s physical needs.

5. Parent Communication:

- Use the Lillio app for daily updates and communication with parents.
- Discuss daily events and accommodate parents’ instructions for care routines.
- Encourage family participation in center activities.

6. Operational Contributions:

- Follow licensing requirements and maintain punctuality.
- Participate in staff meetings, performance reviews, and professional development.
- Support and mentor practicum students and maintain accurate records.

7. Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities:

- Ability to lift/move between 10 to 30 pounds.
- Perform repetitive tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Engage in activities that involve sitting, standing, walking, and other physical movements.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in inclement weather.
