**DESCRIPTION**

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent provides financial and operational budgeting, forecasting, analysis, payroll, and internal control guidance to the Decanal Shared Services and other Faculty offices. The incumbent brings the highest standards of professionalism and dedication to achieve maximum quality and productivity. Working independently under the general direction of the CFO, the Manager, Finance & Payroll, Administrative Shared Services assists the CFO in all aspects of: financial and operational budgeting & forecasting; financial modeling; educating new academic administrators, executive directors, and finance/operations staff; ad hoc financial and operational analysis; internal control analysis and compliance to the University governance framework and policies; AMS system access and transaction processing and reporting troubleshooting, acting as an expert resource to other Faculty offices and departments/units in this regard; and overseeing Decanal Shared Services payroll, and processing AAA, PM & Confidential payroll changes and other payroll changes as required (e.g. terminations). Maintains personnel files and on-line records for PM’s and Confidentials.

The Manager, Finance & Payroll, Administrative Shared Services will take on new tasks or projects as required to ensure and to promote optimal function of the Decanal Shared Services, initiate and undertake research on a wide variety of operational issues and topics, provide advice, follow-up on decisions made by the Faculty’s senior leadership and ensure ongoing maintenance of the highest level of pro-activity and service for the Decanal Shared Services. The role of the Manager, Finance & Payroll, Administrative Shared Services continues to evolve, and the incumbent must be willing to respond to the given priorities of the day and to work cooperatively in a dynamic and challenging environment.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**

University degree in Commerce and/or MBA, or a comparable combination of educational background and experience in the areas of Academic Administration, Financial Management and Human Resources.

**Experience**

Minimum 7 years of related senior administrative experience, preferably in a University environment. A demonstrated capacity to master the University’s financial and administrative policies and experience with strategic financial planning are essential. Familiarity and experience with the culture and administration of the University of Toronto is preferred. Understanding and experience with HR management in a unionized environment and familiarity with HR policies and collective agreements is also highly desired.

**Skills**

Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office; Knowledge of University’s Administrative Management System (AMS), including FIS or equivalent strongly preferred.
