The Department of Families is looking for a skilled leader to fill the term position of Child Protection Specialist Supervisor. The Child Protection Branch is the government office that monitors and oversees the entire range of child and family services. It provides funding for all the services that are provided by Authorities and agencies (except for the services delivered within the First Nation reserve communities which are funded by the federal government). The Child Protection Branch also provides other services, including post adoption services, the adoption registry, the Child Abuse Registry and other registries. It also licences residential care facilities for children and licenses adoption agencies. The Child Protection Branch is a place where you can call to bring concerns or complaints related to the CFS system.

- Must possess and maintain a valid Full Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License and have access to a vehicle.

- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
- Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Post secondary degree in Social Sciences (BSW preferred). Other acceptable combinations of education and related training and experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience working within the child and family services system; preferably in various roles and capacities
- Leadership experience in a social service delivery environment which includes administration of new and ongoing initiatives and programs including planning, organizing, resourcing/staffing, leading and controlling program/initiative activities
- Financial management experience, including managing budgets for operational and program resources
- Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate discussions between different groups and deliver information at the level of the target audience.
- Strong written communication skills with extensive experience preparing and reviewing both analytical and authority-seeking documents.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including demonstrated professionalism, political acumen, and the ability to establish effective relationships with various partners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure, within tight timelines, and manage a varied workload with changing priorities.
- Effective problem solving skills and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, reconciliation with Indigenous peoples of Manitoba.

**Desired**:

- Experience using the Child and Family Services System and the electronic records management systems (CFSA) with child welfare experience or an equivalent software

**Duties**:
The Child Protection Specialist Supervisor is responsible for assisting executive management to assess province-wide outcomes and agency/service region required supports to enact provincial changes as well as ensuring accountability for service provision. In addition, the Child Protection Specialist Supervisor oversees the team of Child Protection Specialists who coordinate the administration of new and ongoing initiatives and programs including planning, organizing, resourcing/staffing, leading and controlling program/initiative activities.
