**Role Intro**:
ABCO is presently seeking a **Technical Buyer** to join our growing team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Technical Buyer will be responsible for managing inventory levels to ensure availability of materials for production while obtaining optimal pricing and quality.

**Typical Workday**:

- Negotiate with suppliers in a timely manner to obtain products at most favourable price, quantity, and quality.
- Successfully manage vendor relationships and create productive partnerships with suppliers.
- Track purchases, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a current database of vendor information.
- Resolve problems with suppliers relating to materials, parts, shipping errors, pricing and invoicing etc.
- Provide direction or input into the creation and/or adjustment of inventory minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Continuously assess the cost and quality of goods that are received and shipped.
- Follow up with internal customers to confirm parts information, gathering requirements if necessary to research product solution and complete order in a timely manner.
- Follow up on critical orders with suppliers and internal customers.
- Provide monthly reporting on activities and achievement of savings targets.
- Assist in identifying departmental objectives or initiatives as required.
- Generate ad hoc reports, as necessary to analyze and understand purchasing trends & history.
- Constructively participate in annual Safety and Quality audits, survey, or investigations.

**Work Environment**:

- On-site.
- Traditional business hours.
- Majority of time in office and stock room, some time spent in fabrication shop.
- Collaborating with various departments and team members.

**Requirements**:

- 5 + years experience in similar role within manufacturing industry.
- PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada) Accreditation, and/or other procurement training is an asset.
- ERP experience preferred.
- Proficient in Outlook, MS Word and Excel.
- Strong negotiation & communication skills.
- Strong forecasting and mathematical skills.
- Ability to interpret data for decision making.
- Highly organized and focused, thinks and acts decisively.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Must be a team player.
