**Job Summary**: Reporting to the Manager of the Volunteer Services and in collaboration with the Hospice Residence Manager, the Coordinator of Volunteers is responsible for scheduling, supervision, support and recognition of residence volunteers. The Coordinator will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to meet the identified needs of the patients and families in the residence.

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Maintains confidential and sensitive information and acts in an ethical and professional manner, consistent with the professional code of ethics and agency policy
- Directs the Hospice residence volunteer program of the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc. in accordance with the policies and procedures of the agency.
- Develops and make recommendations related to volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling and recognition of these volunteers.
- Coordinates the screening, orientation, placement and training of volunteers at the Erie Shores Campus.
- Creates role descriptions, weekly schedules, and maintains teams of volunteers to meet service requirements within the residence.
- Ensures that all residence volunteers adhere to the Public Health Guidelines including Food Safety and Handling.
- Organize the weekly grocery shopping, set weekly meal plans for the kitchen volunteers.
- Responsible for the inventory and ordering of the weekly Tim Horton’s product for the agency.
- Organizes regular support meetings with each team of volunteers from the residence in addition to supporting volunteers on a daily basis; maintaining meeting minutes and outcomes for implementation.
- Identifies and promotes ongoing education and training opportunities for residence volunteers.
- Ensure and facilitate that complimentary therapies and other volunteer services are provided for patient comfort and family support.
- Facilitate the Special Occasions at the residence, such as, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter Dinners, and other special events with volunteers and staff.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Wellness programs for the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc. for Erie Shores Campus.
- Oversee the marketing and delivery of Wellness programs and monitor that programs are delivered in a safe environment.
- Conducts regular reviews and updates of the Hospice Residence Volunteer Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintains accurate volunteer information and agency dashboards in the database.
- Maintains and collates accurate statistical data and other reports as required.
- Contribute ongoing to Feel Good Friday’s
- Attends Volunteer Department and Hospice Residence Team Meetings as requested or required.
- Attends ongoing education and training of the agency as required or requested.
- Completes the Direct Volunteer Support Training (DVST) of the Agency within six months of employment start date (if not already acquired).
- Other duties assigned by the Manager Volunteer Services

**Requirements**:

- _Technical_
- Proficient in Cerner, Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Flexibility of hours; evening and weekend shifts as required.
- Ability to adapt well to new programs and software.
- _Experience_
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Good organizational and prioritizing skills; problem solving skills.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
- Bilingual French/English an asset.
- _Education_
- Fundamentals of Volunteer Management Certificate or equivalent experience working with and supervising volunteers.
- Required to complete the Volunteer Patient Care Training Program of the Agency.
