**Position Overview**

Reporting to the Maintenance Lead, the Maintenance Technician is responsible to support the maintenance, repair or replacement of facility and operations assets and systems, to ensure maximum safety, reliability, production, and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.

Responsibilities include all aspects of the maintenance function for the newly modernized and state of the art Kentville facility, with some support of other SRL Nova Scotia facilities as required. The incumbent will provide routine maintenance for all equipment (balers, conveyors, etc.) and the building itself. This includes executing maintenance repairs, sourcing/purchasing of parts/services and overseeing contractors. The incumbent will ensure all safe operating procedures are being followed (e.g. PPE, safety, preventative maintenance, etc.) and leads by example.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work in safe and efficient manner with a focus on equipment optimization and reliability
- Execute the preventative maintenance program for the site including assigned first
- and second-line maintenance activities.
- Review and monitor the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement
- Maintain an inventory of critical parts and other supplies
- Support and participate in annual inspections scheduling & completion
- Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
- Support tracking, analysis and improvement of key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
- Conducts visual inspections and report any deficiencies, and damage to equipment including discrepancies on pre-shift reports

**Required Qualifications**:

- A minimum of one-year college diploma in a related technical field or from a trade school in a related field - **2nd year apprentice Millwright or Industrial Mechanic Preferred**
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the maintenance and/or operation of a process manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
