Lumber Grader

**SPECIFIC DUTIES**
1) Grade all lumber according the NHLA standards, flipping boards by hand.
2) Record all tags on production sheet and submit to department manager.
3) The grader shall work with the pilers to ensure all material is piled and packaged correctly.
4) As a lead hand, you should verbally warn any employee working in an unsafe manner (piling, crane, TCM’s, etc.) and report any recurrences to the Supervisor.
**SAFETY STANDARDS**:
1) When working on the chain, always be aware of your working perimeter. Stay Alert Be aware of overhead crane operation.
2) Always use the steps when descending or ascending the grading table.
3) The grading rule you are using is a sharp instrument and if not used carefully, can injure your co-workers.
4) Send for maintenance personnel if experiencing any equipment problems.
5) Safety boots and hard hats are necessary.
6) Hearing protection is recommended close to the trim saws.
7) Keep work area clean.
8) Read and be aware of the safety standards for the mill greenchain lumber pilers.
- **PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:_
1) Flip boards all day with upper extremities as boards enter the piling line. (15 to 50 pounds).
2) Stand all day at grader station.
