Description:

Working for VIA Rail is being a part of a collective effort in sustainable mobility.**Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership to project controllers and master planners responsible for project monitoring and control according to the parameters defined with the internal client, in collaboration with the various business unit managers. Monitor the status of projects in terms of cost, schedule, quality and scope. Manage requests for changes. Prepare and present progress reports with the various performance indicators to management;
- Ensure project staffing at the resource level. Plan the needs and use of human resources by creating a comprehensive view of controllers on all of the organization’s projects. Refine and standardize resource allocation to optimize hiring and staffing processes. Recruit project control staff, including contractors. Evaluate staff and oversee the development of their skills required to carry out projects in coordination with other managers. Develop the profession of project controllers for the Corporation;
- In collaboration with the Senior Service Manager of the PMO Centre of Excellence, develop the methodology, processes and tools for project controls at the corporation. Optimize the financial monitoring and forecasting process to align with the Finance Department. Optimize processes for planning, critical path monitoring and visualization of major operations and milestones. Implement a dashboard with performance indicators for follow-up with management.
Requirements:

- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a field related to project management, administration or finance;
- A master’s degree in project management or an MBA is an asset;
- 15+ years of experience, including 10 years in project management or control, program management and project office management positions;
- Experience in team management;
- Experience in human resources management;
- Experience in subcontractor management;
- Experience in budget management;
- Experience in using project management techniques, methods and tools;
- PMI certification is an asset.
