Katzie's Public Works team is expanding as we are looking to add an experienced General Labourer to the group temporarily.

The Katzie First Nation Public Works team works closely in the community to complete housing and yard maintenance repairs as required by Katzie members. The General Labourer strives to execute the work set out by the Maintenance Operations Supervisor. In addition to completion of maintenance tasks, this role is also responsible for ensuring that work is performed safely.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work alongside the Public Works crew.
- Ensure a safe work environment for the Public Works team.
- Plan and layout basic repair work.
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and wood framing repairs.
- Perform minor roof repairs.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Use of standard hand and power tools to make necessary repairs.
- Troubleshoot for structural water leaks.
- Troubleshoot building envelope leaks, siding, weather-stripping, and windows. (Regarding heat loss).
- Determine types and quantities of materials required for repair work.
- Where required, provide grounds keeping services such as landscaping maintenance, snow removal, and safety salt placement around KFN public buildings.
- Recognize and communicate with the Supervisor on any priority projects or problems.

**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, plan, and multitask with urgency.
- Experience in general construction or skilled trade.
- General working knowledge of standard hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of health and safety possibilities and preventive measures.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-oriented solid skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
- High energy with a friendly positive work demeanor.
- Values providing and receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
- WHMIS Certification an asset
- Able to physically perform the position's duties including working from heights, lifting, and carrying up to 50lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

**OTHER EXPECTATIONS**
- Must have a valid driver's license and ownership of a reliable vehicle.
- Willing to be available on weekends to attend emergency maintenance calls.
- Willing to work in all KFN communities.

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver's License, Driver's Abstract, and a reliable and safe vehicle.
