The Opportunity

Our Canada Gas Safety team is currently seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join, working out of any of our Canadian locations. Reporting to the Manager of Safety within Canada Gas Operations, Engineering and Projects, the Industrial Hygienist will provide expertise in creatively administrating and coordinating our Industrial Hygiene function across our project and operational assets.

This role will support the development, implementation and monitoring our Industrial Hygiene related practices across the organization. The successful individual will possess both strong technical abilities and leadership skills with a proven track record of success in coordinating industrial hygiene related activities within a large corporation. Skilled in program design, document development and maintenance, education and awareness of Company practices and industry best practices, the individual will provide technical expertise for industrial hygiene related matters across TC Energy.

What you’ll do
- Play an active role in the identification of hazards and the implementation of regulatory, health and safety, and other program changes
- Coordinate and overseeing the execution of the Industrial Hygiene program
- Support ad-hoc Industrial Hygiene requests (e.g., quantitative chemical sampling)
- Execute the assurance activities associated with the industrial hygiene contractor management program
- Support and respond to any requests from our regulatory bodies
- Conduct qualitative exposure assessments and pro-actively identify industry health hazards
- Provide guidance and recommendations to business partners, thereby facilitating their decision-making process
- Provide employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and manage occupational health hazards
- Conduct/manage hygiene, hazardous materials and/or safety management projects and training
- Conduct or coordinate industrial hygiene exposure evaluations/monitoring using various types of sampling devices/media and equipment
- Coordinate consultants for routine and ad hoc industrial hygiene monitoring
- Prepare formal comments on new rules and regulations for submission to Provincial, State or Federal agencies and understand when to seek assistance from attorneys, other experts, and government officials to assess and act on health and safety circumstances
- Review industrial hygiene related incident reports, job hazard analyses and participate in root cause investigations

Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health or natural science-related discipline (e.g. Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Physiology, Human Factors, Biology, Chemistry)
- 5 years of related work experience in Industrial Hygiene
- Strong knowledge of industrial hygiene and biological/chemical/physical hazards

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the Oil & Gas industry
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH), or other recognized designation
- Familiar with legislative requirements governing industrial hygiene at the federal and provincial
- Ability to produce technical reports, make oral presentations and conduct training sessions
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
- Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
- Carry a cell phone and provide on-call emergency response support on occasion
