- The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.- The City of North Vancouver - Information Technology Division is looking for a temporary full-time GIS Technician for approximately two (2) years.**Responsibilities**
- Reporting to the Manager, Data Services, you will be involved with specialized technical mapping work using ESRI’s ArcGIS software. Your role will require you to create and maintain spatial and attribute data; prepare maps and reports; provide spatial analysis; review and consult with end users regarding information requests; write, modify, and test GIS scripts to generate and access data or reports; participate in the development and implementation of GIS workflow procedures; and provide end user support and training assistance as required.**Requirements**:

- You will have completed a diploma program in a related discipline supplemented by completion of a GIS post diploma program. Related work experience, preferably in a municipal environment; considerable knowledge of computer assisted mapping techniques, procedures and software, such as ESRI’s ArcMap, ArcCatalogue, ArcToolbox; relational databases; programming languages such as Python; and in-depth cartographic proficiency, are required; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong SQL language skills and experience working with ArcSDE geodatabases, AutoCAD, and FME would be definite assets.**Compensation**
- $37.58 to $44.22 per hour- (Pay Grade 21 - January 2024 rates)**Hours of Work**
- Required hours may consist of any 7 consecutive hours between 7:00am and 11:00pm, Monday to Friday, and may also include an occasional shift on weekends or evenings. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) in approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.**Additional Information**- For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.**How to Apply**
