The Balmy Beach Club was established for the pursuit of athletic sports and continues to provide the community with an environment that encourages members to participate in sporting activities. In addition, we endeavor to provide our members with an experience that promotes values, recreation, social activities, camaraderie and friendship through sports.

The Building Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the general building and property maintenance. The duties will include both indoor and outdoor areas of the Clubhouse, gardens, patio, beach front and more. Responsible for day to day repairs, upkeep i.e. painting and drywall repairs; replacing light bulbs, and fixtures as needed. Basic understanding of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems. Ensuring all areas are to the standard of cleanliness ie. floors, change rooms, windows etc.

The Maintenance Person needs to be pro-active _"if you see something, correct that something"_. This individual is competent with using hand and power tools and bring their own tools to work to a WHMIS Health and Safety Standard.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- High school diploma/GED.
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings.
- Must be available one day on the weekend. Hours and days of work may vary week to week as required and during peak season.

**DUTIES: (Not all are listed below)**
- Drywall repairs and Painting
- General knowledge of plumbing repairs
- General knowledge about heating units and air conditioners
- Seasonal outdoor landscaping, gardening techniques, planting etc.
- Perform regular property inspections of the clubhouse including common areas, building exterior, and landscape.
- Responsible for vandalism clean up and repair, within skill level.
- Able to recognize HVAC issues and potentially troubleshoot.
- Maintain working knowledge of environmental safeguards and alarm systems.
- Maintain outside grounds (remove snow, ice, and debris, spray and remove weeds, sweep, water etc.), repair and set up/tear down patio furniture.
- Maintain and organize outdoor storage space area - organize
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to Operations or General Manager.

**APPLICABLE SKILLS**:

- Must be highly organized and have strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform small repairs
- Carpentry skills and refinishing wood preferred
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels.
- Must be familiar with cleaning products and cleaning practices.
- Strong customer service orientation and skills.
- Interact with management, co-workers, and Members.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must have their own tools.
- **Must have their own transportation**
