These include material handling systems for the Oil & Gas tube manufacturers, Automotive Seat Assembly Pallets & Conveyor Line Automation and Horticulture Automation.
**MAJOR DUTIES**:
Assist Bender and Automation Builders to learn how to machine, fit, assemble and build precision tooling and mechanical assemblies for tube bending machinery.
**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Visualize and conceptualize bender or assembly table design, fabricating tooling as required.
- Design and fabricate bender frames, guarding and sub-assemblies, by cutting, fitting and welding.
- Study drawings and other specifications to determine dimensions, machining involved and to plan layout and using knowledge of part design and shop mathematics.
- Read and interpret blueprints, operation and product-related reference charts and tables and selects mechanical measuring, checking and layout tools and devices.
- Set up and operate, to prescribed tolerances, equipment (e.g. lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drills, saws, boring machines) for the manufacturing of machine tooling.
- Execute measuring, checking and layout operations and select work piece materials and the required cutting tools and abrasives for metal removal operations.
- Perform metal removing operations using hand and power tools and select work piece clamping and holding devices and product-related components.
- Manufacture component parts, assemble and test tools, jigs and fixtures for machine integration with electro-mechanical sub-assemblies and systems components.
- Verify dimensions and alignments, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges and gauge blocks.
- Deburr parts using hand tools, such as files and scrapers.
- MIG and TIG weld components where necessary.
- Fit and assemble parts, sub-assemblies, electrical panels and valve banks to special-purpose machinery.
- Integrate electrical wiring and pneumatic and hydraulic systems into special-purpose machinery as required.
- Paint equipment as required.
- Proceed with floor assembly according to design; assembling the machinery in a safe and proper order.
- Ensure that CMP standards are met during the machining and assembly process.
- Assist with programming and machine debug.
- Participate in the tear down and shipping of the equipment, dismantling in an orderly fashion to minimize installation time at customers’ site.
- Reassemble equipment to the point of buy-off at customers’ site.
- Be an ambassador for CMP at the customers’ site. Follow all safety procedures according to CMP Health and Safety policies in addition to any on site Health and Safety procedures.
- Adhere to all CMP Health and Safety rules and procedures.
- Must be able to travel to USA, Mexico, and Europe
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:
A Grade 12 diploma specializing in drafting and machine shop or equivalent.
**Experience**:
Must have a practical working knowledge of the operation of all toolroom equipment, an ability to read blueprints and a keen interest to learn the general machinist and/or the tool & die making and/or the machine building trades.
