We are seeking an individual who is aligned with our core values and reflects our core competencies to join our Faculty & Staff as a **Debating Coach**. This is a 10 month, part-time contract position.

**The Position**:
**Specific Accountabilities**:
This position will require after-school and weekend availability both in-person and virtually. The responsibilities and duties of the Debate Coach include but are not limited to:

- Work with student club heads, the Debate Faculty Supervisor and other coaches to plan, grow and implement the Debate program for Havergal College
- Assist in the selection of students for the Havergal Debate Team when attending tournaments
- Through consultation with the Debate Faculty Supervisor, develop a training program to prepare young women for competitive and recreational debate meetings or tournaments.
- Attend tournaments on weekends with students to coach, observe their skill acquisition, and provide support
- Responsible for student supervision while attending local competitions
- Monitor student safety, conduct and attendance throughout program

**Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience**
- Acquisition of or progress toward a University degree/college diploma in an appropriate field
- A minimum of one to five years' experience as a Debate Coach
- Demonstrated success in coaching and effectiveness as a leader
- Experience working with high school students
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Motivated, and motivational, independent, resourceful
- Tactful, use of diplomacy in communicating with students and parents
- Discretion and confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
