**Position Status**: Full-Time

**Salary**: $48,557 per year

**Location**: Antigonish, Nova Scotia

**The Opportunity**

This position will provide full-time group and/or individual outreach language instruction (35 hours per week). Our curriculum follows a task-based approach aligned to the Canadian Language Benchmarks, for adult newcomers to Canada living in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

**Responsibilities**
- Developing and delivering task-based language instruction
- Generating language instruction plans that correspond to Canadian Language Benchmarks and support achievement of students’ learning targets
- Conducting ongoing language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress in language acquisition
- Remaining current on EAL and settlement issues that could impact and benefit program and students
- Conducting client surveys and program evaluation
- Maintaining up to date records of student attendance and other information as required and directed

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
- TESL qualification for adult learners as recognized by TESL Canada
- Two (2) years teaching experience within English as an additional language setting
- An understanding of, and ability to apply, the principles of adult education
- An understanding of, and experience with, cross-cultural matters and how they relate to learning and integration for newcomers to Canada
- Experience working with Canadian Language Benchmarks
- Ability to demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal skills
- Microsoft Office skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and tasks
- Demonstrated discretion and sound judgement in the handling of confidential information
- Prior experience with Microsoft Teams is an asset
- Valid NS Driver's License, reliable vehicle essential and ability to travel
