Child and Youth Care Field Placement Officer

Applications are invited for the position of Child and Youth Care Field Placement Officer in the School of Community Services Division, located at the Welland Campus. The starting hourly rate is $33.38/hr (Pay Band H - $33.38/hr to $38.75/hr) for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Mentoring and role modelling for students in field placement settings
- Building partnerships and maintaining rapport with field placement partners
- Supporting, role modelling for and mentoring agency supervisor
- Resolving promptly any relevant placement agency and student issues and concerns
- Preparing written summaries of students’ performance
- Participating in program recruitment and promotional events
- Representing the CYC program on community and professional organizations
- Scheduling student field placements
- Additional administrative tasks supporting students and CYC program

**Qualifications**:

- Three (3) year diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care or Child and Youth Studies
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner
- Membership with the OACYC
- Vast knowledge and a variety of experiences working with children and youth, families and students and experience with the mentoring process
- Familiarity with types of Child and Youth Care agencies used for placements in the Niagara Region
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement social skills facilitation plans
- Demonstrated understanding of Anti-Oppressive and Relational practice
- Experience supervising Child and Youth Care placement students
- High level of organizational, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Professional attitude with a focus on quality service, confidentiality, ethical behaviours
