**SUMMARY**

This position examines, monitors, and assesses the financial soundness, business strategies and regulatory compliance of financial institutions. Maintains an updated and accurate risk profile for each assigned institution.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Maintains accurate risk profiles, assesses and monitors risks and makes recommendations regarding assigned financial institutions.
- Prepares summaries of information gathered from monitoring activities, notification letters and reports on the implementation of corrective actions and compliance with supervisory requirements.
- Participates in onsite reviews of financial institutions to identify and assess inherent risks and assess risk management control functions.
- Contributes to the production of supervisory strategies and plans for financial institutions.
- Actively participates in the management of stakeholder relationships including financial institution senior management and Board members.
- Monitors and evaluates macro-economic, sector and regulatory developments, policies and statistics to determine the impact on provincially regulated financial institutions.
- Contributes to the team’s development of internal work practices (e.g., policies, procedures and tools).
- Provides orientation and training to internal and/or external stakeholders within area of responsibility.
- Contributes to, participates in, and supports organizational business transformation initiatives.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Degree in business, finance, or economics and some related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related experience includes:

- Financial analysis
- Internal/external audit
- Risk management

Preference may be given to applicants with Industry experience in at least one of insurance, credit union, banking, trusts, or related industries.
- Knowledge of British Columbia’s supervisory framework governing regulated financial sectors.
- Knowledge of financial analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of project management best practices.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and methods.
- Ability to exercise judgement, initiative, and discretion.
- Ability to analyze business plans and financial statements.
- Ability to write clear and concise documentation, reports, briefing notes, etc.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
