Your Opportunity:
Description:
As a Cancer Registrar I, you will be responsible for reviewing legal hybrid health records for the purpose of Oncology coding and staging for the Cancer Registry using the National/International Cancer Registry guidelines. You will also obtain death information of patients, enter data in the Cancer Registry software program and update medical records. Quality Assurance will be maintained through annual and new clean ups, perform audits relating to coding and abstracting on the Cancer Registry file, and actively participate in the quality control program as outlined by the Quality Assurance Committee.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum 5 years working in a health care environment. Minimum 3 years of health care coding experience, working with patient charts to efficiently interpret and abstract health data, within the last 5 years. Demonstrated ability to work under time pressures with experience meeting or exceeding quality and productivity standards in an environment that tracks performance indicators. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
