**Data Strategy & Governance Leader**:

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Data Strategy & Governance Leader who will be joining the Lallemand team in this exciting period of transformation.

Data Governance will be an enterprise function dedicated to producing, promoting, and supporting the availability of the quality information required by Lallemand. The Leader will report to the Business Leader. Data Governance will collaborate with IT Analytics, and Business leaders to implement data management best practices. This role is responsible for delivering the Data Stewardship model, identifying, and engaging Data Owners and Working Groups to make decisions for enhanced data consumption across the enterprise.

Lallemand are at the beginning of its Data Governance journey and needs a visionary leader to establish this function, creating processes and partnerships while changing the culture to recognize the importance of data. The leader will oversee and supervise all organization-wide data governance activities, have responsibility for enhancing the quality, and will manage the protection of sensitive data and information assets. The position will concentrate on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices.

This role will work closely with Business and Functional area leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements to achieve the required level of consistency, quality, and protection to fulfil overall business needs as well as support the strategic requirements of the department.

Roles and Responsibilities

Develop Master Data Governance baseline:

- Develop and govern an enterprise data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities.
- Conduct current state assessments (Data Management and Governance reviews, Data Maturity assessments, Operating Model and Data Literacy assessments), evaluate assessment results, and present findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner.
- Roll out an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture.
- Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners.

Establish Data Quality practices at Lallemand - Lead the Data Quality Specialist in the following processes:

- Provide data owners/stewards with a monitoring process so they can monitor data quality.
- Investigate Data Lineage with business units, continual improvement team and IT build team to identify where business process produces incorrect data results.
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.

Establish Data Governance practices at Lallemand
- Create a culture of Data Governance, educating all levels of Lallemand about their responsibilities.
- Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal information assets.
- Create Data Governance Counsel or Steering Committee to provide direction and prioritization.
- Facilitate cross-functional business alignment of business terms and formulas, ensuring all parties affected are represented.
- Capture business rules behind data usage and cataloguing them into a Business Glossary, i.e., term definitions, data standards, and confirmed formulas.
- Conduct employee training on data management best practices to ensure that they are aware of proper procedures for handling sensitive data.
- Assist with data architecture reviews and advise on data solutions that pertain to Data Governance programs (Data Catalogue, Data Quality, Business Glossary, data tools/software, metadata management, master data management, Lineage)

Establishes Report Governance practices at Lallemand
- Create, publish, and maintain data and report catalogues by usage and source system.
- Educates BU on catalogues and reduces report duplication.
- Certifies reports and analytics are following business glossary definitions.
