Our team supervises about 10-15 students per year in research projects and we are proud to say that more than 90% of them find a job following their experience with us, mainly with an industrial collaborator of our research center. We participate in the professional development of our interns closely, offering them the opportunity to be in contact with innovators during weekly meetings related to current societal issues and several times a week for advancement and coaching. In addition to preparing them for the private sector job market, La Cité offers two courses in Responsible Conduct of Research and Intellectual Property that are unique among Canadian colleges.

Our trainees are ready to respond to the needs of private industry immediately after their experience with us. They are engaged in real-world issues raised by our industrial collaborators and must be innovative in their responses. This project mainly involves cell culture and fermentation experiments but also molecular biology and biochemistry to perform control and validation tests.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Support the research associate in laboratory research
- Communicates regularly with associates and supervisor on the progress of assignments;
- Participate, as needed, in meetings related to the research project in which he/she is involved;
- Prepare equipment and supplies necessary for the proper functioning of the research project;
- Assist in the writing of experimental protocols and scientific reports (in multiple formats, e.g. PowerPoint, Executive Summary);
- Archive all project information in the research repository (e.g., data, reports, communications, articles, etc.).
- Assist in the management of supplies for applied research,

Knowledge and skills:
Biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry-biology, microbiology or related field.

Teamwork, adaptability, initiative, autonomy, oral and written communication in French and English.

Nous participons au développement professionnel de nos stagiaires de près, en leur offrant l'opportunité d'être en contact avec des innovateurs lors de rencontres hebdomadaires liés aux enjeux sociétaux actuels et des rencontres plusieurs fois par semaine d'avancement et de coaching. En plus de les préparer au mieux pour le marché de l'emploi dans le secteur privé, La Cité offre deux formations de Conduite responsable en recherche et sur les propriété intellectuelles unique au Canada parmi les collèges.

Nos stagiaires sont prêts à répondre aux besoins des industries privées dès la sortie d’expérience avec nous. Ils sont engagés dans des problème concrets soulevé par nos collaborateurs industriels et doivent faire preuve innovation pour y répondre. Ce projet implique principalement des expériences de culture cellulaire et fermentation mais également de biologie moléculaire et de biochimie pour réaliser des tests de contrôle et validation.

Tâches et responsabilités:

- Appuyer l’associé de recherche dans les travaux de recherche en laboratoire
- Communiquer régulièrement aux associés et à son superviseur de l’avancement dans ses tâches ;
- Participer, au besoin, à des rencontres en lien avec le projet de recherche auquel il participe ;
- Préparer les appareils et les fournitures nécessaires au bon fonctionnement du projet de recherche ;
- Apporter son appui dans la rédaction des protocoles expérimentaux, et à des rapports scientifiques (sous multiples formes ex. PowerPoint, Sommaire exécutif) ;
- Archiver toute information sur le projet sur le répertoire dédié à la recherche (ex. donnés, rapports, communication, articles, etc.).
- Collaborer à la gestion des fournitures pour la recherche appliquée.

Compétences recherchées:
Biotechnologie, biochimie, chimie-biologie, microbiologie ou domaine connexe.
Travail d’équipe, s’avoir s’adapter, initiative, autonomie, communication orale et écrite en français et en anglais.

La durée du contrat : 8 mois

Salaire : 20,00$ à 24,00$ par heure
