DevOps Manager

Working within one of Canada’s Most Admired Company Cultures, this individual will fill a critical and central role optimizing service delivery, reliability, scalability, monitoring, and helping define all of this as infrastructure-as-code in our Google Cloud environment. As the leader of our DevOps team, you will develop the team, the processes and operating rhythms, and lead initiatives that will achieve the sustainable and measurable uplift in infrastructure architecture. You will work across the business with security, software development, and operational experts to support achieving the greatest business. This is a pivotal role in a small team in a company that is positioned for growth.
**What you'll do**:
- Manage a team of four DevOps developers
- Coach, mentor and develop the team and foster a collaborative high-performing work environment while embracing Helcim’s bottom-up philosophy
- Work closely with GCP daily (GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, etc.)
- Work with the CTO to define the vision, strategic objectives, and roadmap for the DevOps organization
- Maximize velocity and experience for developers interacting with our infrastructure and tooling by embracing a product mindset
- Build an effective team culture of iteration that is able to down complex problems into deliverable increments
- Participate in incident response and on-call
- Own, drive, and be accountable to KPIs pertaining to reliability, resiliency, durability, and uptime
- Manage end-to-end availability and performance of critical services
**Who you are**:
- Hands-on experience with managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience working with Kubernetes in a production environment
- Track record of architecting, managing, securing, and maintaining infrastructure for highly-available, fault-tolerant systems
- Have at least two years of experience leading a technical team
- An understanding of network technologies as they relate to the cloud
- Bash scripting skills to pay the bills, along with knowledge of other languages (ideally Go)
- Experience deploying and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with observability tools such as the ELK stack
**Nice to haves**:
- Experience working with GCP
- Experience working with Terraform
- Experience working within PCI DSS compliance
- Experience working with Gitlab
- Experience with Confluent or Kafka
