Lawyers in the Legal Services Branch discharge the duties and functions assigned to the Attorney General under the Attorney General Act including: ensuring that the administration of public affairs is in accordance with the law, advising on the legislative Acts and proceedings of the Legislature, advising the heads of ministries of the government on all matters of law connected with the ministries, undertaking the conduct of all litigation for or against the Crown, drafting and settling agreements and documents to be executed by the Crown. Lawyers are responsible to a member of the Management Committee of the Legal Services Branch and through that member, to the Assistant Deputy Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General, the Attorney General and other Ministers and officials of the Crown.

This position is for a legal counsel within the Legal Services Branch for a temporary position as Legal Counsel 2 in the Litigation Group.

**Job Requirements**:

- Must be a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing OR immediately eligible for call to the Bar.
- From 6th to 11th year of call.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

- Litigation experience working for government or government-related entities or persons.
- Experience with the rules of evidence and the Supreme Court Civil Rules. Experience working on personal injury and/or child protection matters.**About this Position**:
