Position involves working 1:1 supporting individuals with disabilities in their own residence. Applicants will be responsible for taking the individual out into the community. Creating and developing activities to promote intregration of this individual into their community.

Shifts: Weekdays, various daytime hours

Strong Problem solving, organizational, and computer skills required.

Tasks include:

- Assists and supports individuals to participate in a meaningful way in their personal life planning, in the identification and definition of personal goals and aspiration, and in the definition and expansion of opportunities for personal growth, and meaningful and valued roles within the community. Measuring outcomes related to their goals.
- Assists in the development of basic living and related skills, with a view to enhancing the individual’s confidence, competence and participation within their social network
- Is aware of the individual’s physical, social and recreational environments, and taking action to minimize risks and maximize participation/inclusion; working with experienced resources when appropriate.
- Is aware of and adheres to established policies and operational protocol
- Learns about opportunities in the community, and assists and supports the individual with general access and participation in them
- Models socially appropriate behaviors; assists and encourages the individual to make and maintain appropriate community connections
- Assists with personal care for individuals with high needs and/or are medically fragile individuals, in a manner that ensures privacy, dignity, and respect.
- Assists and supports individuals to advocate on their own behalf, when necessary and appropriate, to have their needs met; and advocates on behalf of the individual when required and appropriate
- Communicates in a professional, timely, accurate and respectful manner with individuals, families, guardians, staff and community representatives; have a firm understanding of confidentiality and FOIP.
- Adheres to all positive and restrictive procedures that are in place

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $19.13 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evenings
- Weekend availability

**Experience**:

- Support Worker: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Standard First Aid/CPR Level C (preferred)
- Class 5 Licence (required)
