**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Wildlife Ranger position includes the daily husbandry (feeding/cleaning/observations) for the wildlife at our refuge - two grizzly bears and our owl ambassadors. The role also involves the delivery of public and private wildlife interpretation programs (involving public speaking to large crowds and handling owls in a public setting) and one on one interactions with guests visiting the refuge and the mountain.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Patrolling of habitats throughout shift times
- Communicating with public to educate them on wildlife issues
- Presenting scheduled Ranger Interpretive sessions
- Assisting in maintaining the record keeping system
- Implement and enforce public safety precautions of visitors and staff regarding wildlife issues
- Establishing a rapport with the general public to foster an appreciation of wildlife and the role of the Grouse Mountain
- Refuge for Endangered Wildlife
- Providing care and maintenance of assigned wildlife habitats and wildlife
- Assisting with construction and deconstruction of habitats
- Other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Supervision of Wildlife Volunteers when they are on shift

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES
- One year’s experience working with wildlife
- Experience in public presentations and education.
- Knowledge of indigenous wildlife and conservation issues
- Knowledge of wildlife husbandry and restraint procedures
- Knowledge of general safety and hygiene protocols
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Team player
- Ability to work weekends and evenings
- The check must be completed prior to start date if you are 19 years and older. Grouse Mountain will assist you with the process.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Early and late season could involve some snow clearing

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

from $17.75 /hour - 20.76 /hour
