**About this Role**

**Qualifications**
- British Columbia Teachers' certification or equivalent is preferred
- Teaching experience is an asset
- Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or M.Ed in Counselling Psychology
- Previous counselling experience at the intermediate school level is preferred
- Independent School experience is an asset
- Extra-curricular experience is an asset

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Work closely with the school leadership team, teachers and parents with respect to student's social and emotional well-being
- Provide direct counselling to children and families
- Consult with school staff and parents
- Lead teacher and parent workshops with respect to social and emotional learning, student mental health and navigating relationships
- Participate as a member of school-based team meetings
- Provide direct instruction to students in areas such as peer helping, conflict resolution, social skills and life skills
- Provide support to colleagues who teach Health and Career Education and in promoting healthy school environments
- Act as liaison with community agencies and allied professionals
- Adhere to the ethical standards of the counselling profession and practice in accordance with federal, provincial, and local laws, statutes, and/or policies that relate to students and families, including child protection/child abuse, special education, attendance, education rights and privacy
- Familiar with Ministry Coding with respect to behavioural designations and funding
- Knowledgeable in counselling children, parents and teachers with respect to ASD, ADD, ADHD, and other exceptionalities
- Knowledge of the current research on girls and learning
- Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic, innovative, and caring educator with a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its many dimensions
- Collaborative and flexible, supportive, and effective team-player
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Committed to continuous professional growth and improvement
